Carthage awards two full-tuition per year School of Business and Economics Scholarships each year to incoming freshmen. These scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate ability in business and/or economics, and are renewable for four years.
With a first-class learning center, expert faculty, and a prime location in the heart of the Milwaukee-Chicago business corridor, Carthage offers students an unequaled experience in learning business principles. Students choose a specific major in business while studying a common foundation in accounting, economics, functional business areas, and management.

The Second Round
The School of Business and Economics Scholarship Program second-round takes place as a hybrid event (on-campus and remote options) on Friday, February 14, 2025. Students will be notified in late December if selected to participate. If selected, candidates attending the event will take a comprehensive examination, have candid discussions with Carthage business and economics students, and hear alumni share experiences and insights regarding their time as a Carthage business and economics student.
How to Apply
Candidates interested in applying for a business scholarship must complete the following no later than December 3:
- Submit an application for admission to Carthage and supporting materials (high school transcripts).
- Submit the School of Business and Economics Scholarships Application. (Deadline: December 3, 2024)
- Submit a one-page essay: Explain why you are interested in a career related to business or economics. (This is part of the online scholarship application.)
To apply for a scholarship, candidates must intend to major in accounting, economics, finance, international political economy, management, or marketing. (A double major in another subject area is acceptable and can be completed in four years.)
Application Review
The business faculty and the Office of Admissions will review your application and high school grades. Qualified applicants will be notified in early January. Successful candidates and their families will be invited to the School of Business and Economics Scholarship Program second round.
The School of Business and Economics Scholarships incorporate all Carthage assistance. Scholarships and grants may be combined with federal and state grants, not to exceed full tuition. Carthage also offers additional scholarships. See our scholarship page for details.
