The public is invited to attend the Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Awards Celebration, which will honor members of the Carthage and surrounding communities who embody the legacy of the civil rights leader. Milton Dockery, instructional chairman in the Department of History at Milwaukee Area Technical College, will give a keynote address. A former co-host of “Black Nouveau” on Milwaukee’s PBS station, Mr. Dockery has worked for over 20 years with the Racine Heritage Museum and the Professional Women’s Network for Service to document Racine’s role in the Underground Railroad. This event is free and open to the public, but please reserve your spot by Friday, Jan. 5.

Breaking Barriers: ‘Healing From Hate’
Noon, Engagement and Inclusion Center
See the documentary that follows the organization Life After Hate, which works to heal communities affected by racism. Lunch will be provided.

Sign up for a 90-minute shift
Help put together brown bag lunches to be distributed at these area organizations: ELCA Outreach Center, Shalom Center, Grace Food Pantry, Luther’s Lunchbox, The Hospitality Center, HALO, and HOPES Center.

Films With a Purpose: ‘Hesburgh’

Join Carthage Athletics and the Office of Equity and Inclusion for lunch and the screening of the film “Hesburgh,” a documentary features Rev. Theodore Hesburgh, former president of the University of Notre Dame and known civil rights activist.
