Women’s History Month
Carthage Celebrates Women’s History Month
“Each time a girl opens a book and reads a womanless history, she learns she is worth less.” – Myra Pollack Sadker
Each year in March, we celebrate women’s contributions to history, culture, and society.
Much of Western world history is dominated by the perspectives and stories of white males. Studying women’s history provides an opportunity to understand the structures in place throughout the world and their impact on women — past and present.
During Women’s History Month, we honor our foremothers and present-day activists who smashed the glass ceiling and refuse to live by narratives that limit their contributions to their families, careers, communities, nations, and the world. At Carthage, we celebrate women’s stories and explore and examine the lives of women all year long.
